The white tiger is not a specific subspecies of the Panthera tigris species. White tigers are actually normal Bengal Tiger (Panthera tigris tigris) with a recessive gene. This genetic deviation is the cause of their unusually snow-white striped fur, blue eyes, and larger figure. However, since their beautiful appearance is caused by the expression of a recessive gene, the white tiger is significantly rarer than its orange family (though generally, the population of tigers in this world is declining).
